It has been a lovely sunny weekend, not overly warm, but sunny nevertheless.
We took the little girls to the Lamb and Calf Show. It was a great morning. There must have been several thousand people there, which to be frank made it a bit overwhelming. Nearly four year olds also don’t understand queuing – with Miss I charging right up to have her turn on the bouncy castle. There were pony rides, petting zoos and loads of sweets.
A had packed a picnic for post show. There is something quite lovely about homemade sandwiches after a morning of fresh air.
Today, we tackled the garden. We have been striking seeds in our little greenhouse for a couple of months. We were also given loads of corn seedlings. We planted some beans a few weeks ago. Today in went the corn, tomatoes, zuchinni, lettuces, cucumber and beetroot. Goodness knows what we are going to do with so much produce.
It is very satisfying growing our own vege. We know what has gone into growing them. Always makes everything much tastier. Well, we think so.
A also set up a new bird netting system for the grapes and raspberries. Those cheeky birds will be missing out this year. Now, we need to figure out how to stop them having a go on the peaches. Any suggestions?
